New Exhibit – Earl Grey Pass Trail

New Exhibit – Earl Grey Pass Trail

March 14, 2017

History of the Earl Grey Pass Trail

The Earl Grey Pass Trail traverses the Purcell Wilderness Conservancy from Argenta via Hamill Creek on the west to Toby Creek and Invermere on the east. The exhibit tells the history of the trail using indigenous oral history, old maps, historic photos, accounts from those who have visited the area, information on the lobbying efforts to encourage the establishment of the Purcell Wilderness Conservancy in 1974 and restoration work over the years until the present day. The exhibit features “Then and Now’ video sequences that compare a glacier and valley between 1909 and 2015.

This exhibit is curated by the Kootenay Lake Archives, Kaslo, BC to celebrate Canada’s 150th Anniversary.
The exhibit will be at the Langham Cultural Centre in Kaslo from March 10 to April 30, 2017.  Gallery hours are Thursday to Sunday, 1 – 4pm.
